Case Study: Siemens
Introduction
The international engineering and infrastructure company Siemens re-fitted a steam and gas turbine in Portugal. They needed to view the work in progress reliably and at very high quality, from anywhere in the world.
What we did
We visited the site and listened to the client's needs. A high degree of optical precision was required, so we designed a solution with two cameras, as close to perpendicular to the works as possible to avoid any distortion.
Lobster Pot
We deployed two Lobster Pot cameras with prime 14mm lenses, in order to obtain a shot that was extremely sharp and free of distortion throughout. This enabled Siemens staff in Portugal, Germany and the UK to view with great accuracy the work from start to finish, using Lobster Vision. We were able to deploy two cameras, a wireless network and a local server, in a very short time frame.
Results
The resulting film was a great success for Siemens, who use it to illustrate and demonstrate their techniques and working practice. We were able to 'timecode' the film in order to establish when particular events took place, and the ability to monitor the work throughout was a great advantage.
