Case Study: Tate
Introduction
As part of the Transforming Tate project at the Tate Modern in London, an iconic new building will be added at the south of the existing gallery. It will create more spaces for displaying the Collection, performance, installation art and learning.
What we did
In liaison with the team at Tate we identified a suitable place to mount a camera, inside a building opposite the Tate Modern with a good view of the works.
Lobster Pot
To achieve a steady shot over the course of a multi-year project while fitting within the constraints of a very compact footprint, we designed and produced a completely customised enclosure and mounting system. Assembled to exacting specifications, it is a secure and low maintenance solution.
Results
Mounted directly onto the glass of the window this camera shows the unique power and flexibility of the Lobster Pot system. We are proud to be part of the Transforming Tate project. Live images from the Lobster Vision system are being exhibited in the Tate Modern for the public to view and experience interactively. You can see the Lobster Vision camera here. The system is also 'feeding' images to Tate's own website, which can be seen here.
