Bullet time aka 'that Matrix effect'
In 2007 we were commissioned to build a bullet-time rig. For the uninitiated, this is an array of stills cameras all timed to fire at the same time.
In post-production, all the frames are aligned and so we can move through space without moving through time.... or we can move through time a bit, and space a lot, or any combination of the two...
Anyway, there are two ways of doing this: the Hollywood method (lots of time, lots of money, lots of equipment) or the Close enough for Rock'n'Roll method (much cheaper, less sophisticated).
We prefer the latter - though we know how to build both.
3d Stereoscopic time lapse
Jamie Symonds, our resident genius-on-a-budget, has perfected the art of shooting timelapse in stereo. A far cry from the red-and-green glasses of old, 3D these days is deeply sophisticated and will be coming to a TV near you in the next few years.
Ahead of the game, Jamie has made it his work to catalogue every type of cloud formation - at timelapse speeds in 3D HD.
