30 Grosvenor Square is the former US embassy – a landmark, 6-storey Grade II listed building in Mayfair, London. It is being developed into a 137-room hotel by Qatari Diar in a project that will see the retention of the building’s historic facade. Along with a new floor, rooftop pavilion and floor extensions, there will be improvements to the public realm and two new basement levels.
Many of the stakeholders for 30 Grosvenors are based internationally so site visits for them are not practical or cost-effective to arrange regularly. In contrast, the Qatari Diar project and marketing teams are based in the UK and so would regularly perform site visits – however this would still not provide them with the critical visibility they need.
Qatari Diar worked with Lobster Pictures already from the Chelsea Barracks scheme so it was important for them to arrange 8K cameras and Lobster Vision on the project from the start to help with capturing progress, and update their international stakeholders easily by presenting progress on-screen during meetings.
“Having the cameras on our projects is now standard. Our stakeholders are largely overseas so the platform is great to show them progress and document the development. We like the higher-quality 8k option because quality of images and video assets is a real driver – we can zoom in and still have that quality. We are also keen to future proof our assets and 8k does that.”
