Project Norwood is a 100,000sqft commercial building over seven storeys, with associated landscaping, access and parking, which now serves as Zurich’s new office in Swindon for the relocation from the Tri Centres. BREEAM Excellent was achieved with sustainable measures including water fittings with a low flow rate, specification of internal finishes with low VOC emissions, provision of adequate view out and daylighting to occupied spaces, sustainable transport measures to promote cycling to work and provision of new accessible amenities within the building to minimise the travel.
It’s not always easy or time efficient to get to site regularly, safely, or quickly for most clients including Zurich to check in with progress onsite to update teams and stakeholders when needed. Without visibility, it can be incredibly difficult to understand and communicate the status of the project and stay in the loop with several contractors at the same time.
One Lobster Pot 6K camera was installed to help manage the project effectively, with a second camera installed internally during fit out works. Maintaining visibility of the past and present status of the project remotely enabled Zurich to understand contractors workflow and prioritise meetings in specific areas of works. Lobster Vision user access was controlled by Zurich so they could keep all parties in the loop with ease.
“Having it there running meant much less stress – commercially, undoubtable value due to benefit from it. It’s been vital in helping us to manage the project effectively remotely – it 100% paid for itself. The visibility was just fantastic, and the quality was great when you zoomed in. It massively helped with our communication to stakeholders, especially at times we couldn’t get onsite so we could still visually see the progress – so it increased safety for our contractors too. It meant we did not have to travel to and from site as much – time and sustainability saving!”
